The Irish Rosary

The story of the Irish Rosary is one of the very reasons that I started graceandmimi.com.  When I first heard  Father Jim Halleron share this story, I couldn’t help but wonder how many other stories like this exist.  News channels and social media  cover the latest tragedy or political drama, but they tend to skip over the good news; especially that which evidences God at work.    I wanted to do my small part to change this by creating Grace & Mimi, a place for sharing true testimonies from everyday life.   I hope Father Jim’s story of the Irish Rosary inspires you to share the good news, too. The Irish Rosary When Father Jim Halleron graduated from Seminary, he desperately wanted an Irish Rosary.  Despite his meager earnings, Father Jim “splurged” and purchased a rather expensive Irish Rosary.  Not long after, he received a call from the St. Joe’s parish office where he…

I’m Listening

This past March, I found myself in a rare moment, attending a Church service without my Family.  Deep in prayer and reflection, I felt God calling me to tackle a task that I REALLY didn’t want to tackle.  He was calling me to spend more time with him, and to really LISTEN to Him.  I knew just what He wanted me to do. For the past 10 years, I’ve been running 3-4 days a week.  I typically run around 5 miles in the dark of the morning before the rest of my family rises.  It’s during this time that I pray.  I pray for EVERYTHING;  big things, little things, and personal things.  I pray for myself, family, friends, neighbors, and complete strangers.  If you can think of it, I’ve probably prayed for it as I jog.  It’s just how I process things, and it’s just how I DEAL with this crazy world.…

The Big House

Have you ever had a bible verse show up at just the right time, with just the message that you needed?  How about one that showed up from an unexpected place? This has certainly happened to me many times, yet no matter how frequently it happens, I’m always caught off guard.  I have no idea why it continues to surprise and amaze me that He takes the time to speak to me.  Perhaps it’s because it seems too hard to believe that He has time for my tiny, first-world problems.  After all, there are countless others with worry, grief, and need beyond any scope that I’ve experienced.  Nevertheless, despite my undeserving state, there God is, time and again, showing me the way through His written word. One example that stands out to me occurred a few years ago.  We had outgrown our current home (in my opinion) and I had convinced my husband (who thought our…

A Turtle Story

The story you’re about to read was written and experienced by Carol Breidenbach.  I am forever grateful that she was kind enough to share this story with me, and I am even more grateful that she has allowed me to share it with you.  I pray it touches your heart as it has mine.  God Bless- Mimi A Turtle Story You never think it will happen to you, but on June 30, 1983, our youngest son, Jerome, was killed in an accident.  I remember repeating constantly:  “When I am weak, then I am strong.”  The morning of his funeral, with faith waning, I asked: “Lord, if you really are with me during this, will you send me a sign?  Something I can see?” As the procession approached the cemetery, everyone had to stop as a turtle was blocking the driveway.  A good friend of ours, a Deacon, removed the turtle…

Taking Flight

The day after I launched Grace & Mimi, a former co-worker and friend reached out to me to share a God Moment that she’d recently experienced.  Unbeknownst to her, it also led to a God moment of my own….. It had been an amazing few months.  Ashley had recently given her life to Christ in a way that she had never done before.  She had started an exciting new job, and she had taken the initiative to love her abusive father from a distance.  In every way, it seemed as though her life was finally headed in the right direction.  She was full of hope not only for herself, but for her four growing children as well.  Everything was going great, until one weekday morning when it all came crashing down. Ashley received word that her recently estranged father had suffered a heart attack.  The news hit her like a…

Pennies from Heaven

My good friends, the Watson’s shared this story with me this Summer, and immediately I knew it was a God moment that I wanted to share.  With their permission, I created this video to tell the tale.  I hope it touches your heart the way it did mine.

A Prayer of Healing

Tonight, our Community will gather on behalf of Father Jim Halleron, Priest of St. Patricks Catholic Church in Bryan, OH and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Montpelier, OH.  Father Jim is currently undergoing three cycles of chemotherapy to treat Cancer which has returned to him a second time.   Details surrounding tonight’s benefit can be found here. Father Jim is a compassionate, warm, and loving Priest.  He is humble, kind, and fun-loving.  Known for his big personality, high fives, and to the point homilies, Father Jim is an inspiration to live life to the fullest each and every day.  I feel blessed to know Father Jim, and I pray that tonight’s benefit raises not only much-needed funds, but awareness to Father Jim regarding how many people love and care for him, and how many lives he’s touched. Below is a prayer that I received during a Mass presided over by Father Jim. …
